Tooltips & glossary, one trick at a time
Same tiny tactics battle twice. Left: the trick is switched off. Right: it's on. Nothing else differs. Each moment loops; press Try it to play it yourself.
1 Icon labels
Every icon explains itself on hover (after 0.3 s), long-press on touch, or keyboard focus: name, what it does, current number.
2 Plain effects
Effects are written as outcomes with numbers, only the stats that matter, most important first and in bold.
3 Nested terms & glossary
Keywords share one colour and open their own tooltip. Tooltips lock after 1 s so the cursor can move into them, and the same entries form a glossary.
4 Rule call-outs
State shows before it matters (status icons with counters on units), hidden rules are named where they fire, and every death names its cause.
5 Key hints
Keys sit on the corner of the buttons they trigger, and one key (? or F1, also in the Esc menu) lists every control.
Measured on this demo's own data
Every icon, keyword and control in the little game above, checked with all tricks off vs. all on.
