What we asked“Make a sound effect pack for a modern or near-future city game: busy streets, rain, neon and night, mostly loopable background beds. Save each sound as a WAV file in a sounds folder, named like this: - traffic-loop: Steady city street traffic with cars passing at medium distance and a low rolling hum, a seamless loop about eight seconds. - city-rain: Rain falling on wet city streets with soft splashes on pavement and car hiss in the distance, a seamless loop about eight seconds. - neon-hum: The buzzing electric hum of a neon sign up close with a faint flicker crackle now and then, a seamless loop about five seconds. - subway-rumble: A deep subway train rumble passing beneath the street, swelling and fading under a low hum, a seamless loop about eight seconds. - distant-sirens: Faint emergency sirens wailing far across the city over a soft low traffic wash, a seamless loop about eight seconds. - rooftop-wind: Breezy wind on a high rooftop with a far-off muffled city hum below, a seamless loop about seven seconds. - night-street: A quiet late-night city street: soft distant traffic, a low electrical hum and occasional far car pass, a seamless loop about eight seconds. - car-pass: A single car driving past close by on a wet road, a smooth rising and falling tire hiss, about two seconds. - car-horn: A short plain car horn honk, two quick blasts of a slightly buzzy flat tone, under one second. - crosswalk-beep: A pedestrian crossing signal beeping in a steady quick rhythm of short square-wave chirps, about two seconds. - sign-flicker: A neon sign sputtering off and back on: a crackling electric buzz cutting out and snapping back, about one second. - manhole-steam: Steam hissing up from a street grate in a soft breathy burst that fades out, about two seconds. Make them sound like they belong to the same game.”

What happened

Claude
I made all 12 sounds and saved them in sounds/. They're stereo 16-bit WAVs at 44.1 kHz. I couldn't actually listen to them here. I checked them by measuring and by looking at spectrograms, so they still need a listen in the game.

We gave the prompt above to a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder, with no skills and no extra tools. It wrote a small program that makes every sound from scratch, and it took about 4 minutes. Claude can’t hear, so it checked the sounds by measuring them. Press play and judge them yourself.

Every sound is also in the sound effects library, where you can search all packs at once. They are free to use in your games, commercial or not.
