What we asked“Make a sound effect pack for a story game with text boxes, giving each kind of character its own beep voice. Save each sound as a WAV file in a sounds folder, named like this: - blip-hero: A clear mid-pitch square-wave blip for each letter of the hero's dialogue, very short and neutral. - blip-child: A high bright sine blip for each letter of a small child's dialogue, very short and cheerful. - blip-giant: A deep low square blip for each letter of a big slow character's dialogue, short and heavy. - blip-robot: A buzzy flat electronic blip with a tiny bit crush for each letter of a robot's dialogue. - blip-elder: A soft warm low triangle blip with a slight wobble for each letter of an old sage's dialogue. - blip-villain: A dark detuned low blip with a hint of grit for each letter of a villain's dialogue. - blip-fairy: A tiny glassy bell ping for each letter of a fairy's dialogue, very high and sparkly. - blip-random: A set of short chirpy blips at random nearby pitches for each letter of a chatty character, like babble. - text-advance: A soft click for pressing to continue to the next text box, under a tenth of a second. - dialogue-open: A quick soft upward pop for a dialogue box appearing, under a quarter second. - dialogue-close: A quick soft downward pop for a dialogue box closing, under a quarter second. - choice-select: A bright two-note confirm chime for picking a dialogue choice, under half a second. Make them sound like they belong to the same game.”

I made the sound pack: 19 WAV files are in sounds/, along with the script that builds them, generate_sounds.py. It uses only Python's standard library, so you can change values and rebuild with python3 generate_sounds.py. I checked every file's length, loudness and edges with a script, but I haven't listened to them, so the pitches and tone may need adjusting by ear.

We gave the prompt above to a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder, with no skills and no extra tools. It wrote a small program that makes every sound from scratch, and it took under 2 minutes. Claude can’t hear, so it checked the sounds by measuring them. Press play and judge them yourself.

Every sound is also in the sound effects library, where you can search all packs at once. They are free to use in your games, commercial or not.
