What we asked“Make a sound effect pack for a modern military shooter: punchy, loud, crisp synthesized gunfire and weapon handling. Save each sound as a WAV file in a sounds folder, named like this: - pistol-shot: A punchy handgun shot: a sharp noise crack with a short low thump and quick echo, under half a second. - rifle-shot: A powerful single rifle shot: a loud bright crack with deep body and a long rolling echo, about one second. - smg-burst: A fast submachine gun burst of five rapid snappy shots with a short echo tail, under one second. - shotgun-shot: A modern tactical shotgun blast: a wide booming noise burst with heavy low end, about one second. - sniper-shot: A long-range sniper shot: an extremely sharp crack with a deep boom and a long distant echo, about two seconds. - suppressed-shot: A suppressed pistol shot: a muffled quick puff with a small mechanical clack, under a quarter second. - mag-out: Ejecting a magazine: a metallic button click and a sliding release, under half a second. - mag-in: Inserting a fresh magazine: a firm sliding metal clack that locks in place, under half a second. - bolt-rack: Racking a rifle bolt or pistol slide: a crisp two-part metallic clack back and forward, under half a second. - dry-fire: Pulling the trigger on an empty gun: a single small dry metallic click, very short. - shell-drop: A spent brass shell casing bouncing on concrete: three small bright tinkling clinks, under one second. - distant-gunfire: Distant battle in the background: scattered muffled pops and far booms with low wind, seamless loop, about eight seconds. Make them sound like they belong to the same game.”

What happened

Claude
All 12 sounds are in sounds/ as 44.1 kHz, 16-bit mono WAV files. I checked them by measurement and spectrograms, but I can't listen to audio, so the sound itself still needs a listen from you.

We gave the prompt above to a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder, with no skills and no extra tools. It wrote a small program that makes every sound from scratch, and it took about 3 minutes. Claude can’t hear, so it checked the sounds by measuring them. Press play and judge them yourself.

Every sound is also in the sound effects library, where you can search all packs at once. They are free to use in your games, commercial or not.
