What we asked“Make a sound effect pack for any game with collectibles: random pickup variations for coins, gems and items so repeated pickups stay fresh. Save each sound as a WAV file in a sounds folder, named like this: - coin-1: Variation 1 of 4 coin pickups: a bright two-note metallic ding going up, under a quarter second. - coin-2: Variation 2 of 4 coin pickups: like variation 1 but a few notes higher and slightly brighter. - coin-3: Variation 3 of 4 coin pickups: like variation 1 but a little lower with a longer shimmer. - coin-4: Variation 4 of 4 coin pickups: like variation 1 but the two notes are played faster and crisper. - gem-1: Variation 1 of 4 gem pickups: a sparkling crystal chime with a quick rising glitter, under half a second. - gem-2: Variation 2 of 4 gem pickups: like variation 1 but higher pitched with a brighter sparkle tail. - gem-3: Variation 3 of 4 gem pickups: like variation 1 but slightly lower and warmer, with a softer glitter. - gem-4: Variation 4 of 4 gem pickups: like variation 1 but with a quicker rising arpeggio of glassy notes. - item-1: Variation 1 of 4 item pickups: a soft rounded pop with a short upward whoosh, under a quarter second. - item-2: Variation 2 of 4 item pickups: like variation 1 but slightly higher with a light bell tick on top. - item-3: Variation 3 of 4 item pickups: like variation 1 but lower and fuller, as for a bigger object. - item-4: Variation 4 of 4 item pickups: like variation 1 but snappier, with a quick little bounce in pitch. Make them sound like they belong to the same game.”

What happened

Claude
I've made all 12 sounds and saved them as WAV files in sounds/. I generated them with code and couldn't listen to them, so I checked the files by measurement only: every one is under its time limit, at the same peak level, and the variations differ where they should. Have a listen before you use them.

We gave the prompt above to a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder, with no skills and no extra tools. It wrote a small program that makes every sound from scratch, and it took under 2 minutes. Claude can’t hear, so it checked the sounds by measuring them. Press play and judge them yourself.

Every sound is also in the sound effects library, where you can search all packs at once. They are free to use in your games, commercial or not.
