Sci-fi shooter sound effects: 10 free sounds from one prompt
Play 10 sci-fi shooter sound effects that Claude Code made from one prompt. Copy any sound's prompt, or download the pack as WAV files.

What we asked“Make a sound effect pack for a sci-fi arcade shooter: punchy, synthetic, energetic sounds. Save each sound as a WAV file in a sounds folder, named like this: - laser: A classic zappy laser shot with a fast downward pitch sweep. - plasma-cannon: A heavy, charged plasma blast with a deep bass punch. - charge-up: A rising electronic whine charging a weapon over about one second. - shield-hit: An energy shield absorbing a hit: a bright metallic shimmer. - explosion-small: A small crunchy explosion for a destroyed drone. - explosion-big: A big boomy explosion with a long rumbling tail for a destroyed boss ship. - missile-launch: A whooshing missile launch with a hiss. - warp: A spacey warp jump: a fast swelling sweep that cuts off. - pickup-energy: A clean digital pickup sound for collecting an energy cell. - alarm: A short two-tone spaceship alarm, two cycles. Make them sound like they belong to the same game.”
What happened
- Wrote one small Python script that builds every sound from scratch, with no extra libraries
- Checked every file: a valid WAV, the right length, sensible levels and no clipping
- Turned the alarm down so it matches the loudness of the rest
The loudest pack: everything peaks near the top, because an arcade shooter is busy and the shots have to cut through.
The big explosion has a long rumbling tail, about three seconds. Use it for bosses, not for every enemy.
We gave the prompt to a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder, with no skills and no extra tools. It took under 2 minutes. Claude can’t hear, so it checked the sounds by measuring them. Press play and judge them yourself.
Every sound is also in the sound effects library, next to the sounds from the other packs. They are free to use in your games, commercial or not.
